Jacob Felländer | NowNowNow

Jacob Felländer, 1974, Sweden, is a landscape photographer working with multiple captures on a single image. With a modified analogue camera he has created a technique that enables him to expose and wind the film one centimeter at a time. Through this process Jacob is able to capture fragments of time, space and perspectives.

He wanted to capture multiple cities in one frame and as the places started to merge together he grew increasingly fascinated by how close we all live together. Jacob's images seem chaotic, but they create a landscape that is multi dimensional. The series has also been released as a book. >>>

Olafur Eliasson | Your rainbow panorama

ARoS Århus Kunstmuseum, Denmark
Opening on 28 May 2011

Statement by Olafur Eliasson:
A city is a cosmos, a site for social encounters and cohabitation. A museum is a vision machine that challenges our senses, thoughts, and felt opinions. The public, you, is a barometer of the world. You mould as much as you receive.

I think of Your rainbow panorama as a mediator that forges relations between these three: you, ARoS, and the city of Aarhus. It is a vehicle for looking anew, which frames views and frames you as you proceed through the seamless walkway of subtly transforming colour atmospheres. What you experience may be of both panoramic scope and introspective quality – you may see yourself seeing. Sometimes alone, mostly with others.

I see Your rainbow panorama as an orientation tool. Dividing Aarhus into colour zones, it has the qualities of a lighthouse: it draws attention not only to itself, but also to your physical location in Aarhus. For people living in the city and moving through the different times of day, the work becomes a compass in time and space.>>>

Hush | TWIN

Hush "Twin" Opening at New Image Art

As a body of work, TWIN explores the nature of duality.
By varying his approach to the same image, Hush exposes nature’s inherent polarity. The juxtaposition of light and dark reveals the complexity of conflict and unity—and dichotomies present within the human ego.

TWIN is a fascinating confrontation and debate on common conceptions of power, innocence, beauty and sexuality.
The collection also represents the blending of the street art aesthetic- as simultaneously destructive and beautiful.

Members Project | sOccket

Members Project from American Express and TakePart presents the story of sOccket.

The story is inspired by four girls from Harvard who created a soccer ball that captures energy from kicking, dribbling and throwing. Kids can play a game, then bring the ball home and charge a LED lamp, cell phone or battery. These young girls used their education to create a valuable product that enables students halfway across the globe to continue their education by studying at night.

Jellyfish Lake

JELLYFISH LAKE, PALAU
by Sarosh Jacob

Jellyfish Lake is located on Eli Malk island in the Republic of Palau. Twelve thousand years ago these jellyfish became trapped in a natural basin on the island when the ocean receded. With no predators amongst them for thousands of years, they evolved into a new species that lost most of their stinging ability as they no longer had to protect themselves. They are harmless to humans although some people with very sensitive skin may get a minor irritation from them.>>>
